“I work to capture the boundless unfolding of others with honesty and curiosity, while playfully examining the nature of being.”
Rachel is a self-represented artist of sorts based in Denver, Colorado. She graduated from the University of Colorado Boulder in the Spring of 2018 with a Bachelor of Arts in Rhetoric and a double minor in Women and Gender Studies and Technology, Arts and Media.
Rachel’s ever-evolving obsession with photo and creating came out of an exploration period in her high school youth. She plays around with ideas of romanticism, the unfolding of ephemeral moments, the philosophy of aesthetics, and the subtleties and nuances of how the body moves in space. Rachel feels that exploring these ideas in her artmaking gives her insight into the most honest picture of the subject. She is committed to a storytelling that is raw, organic and journalistic; one that, at best, transcends time and space.
Rachel creates content bolstered by her pursuit for the Light, exposing her interior life and public experiences through the mediums of (but not limited to) photography, writing and mixed media. Rachel has found that that her relationship with her mood and the environment around her is symbiotic, whether it is the gloomy conditions of the weather outside or the composition of a space. She strives to create an intentional story with her subject, entirely unique to the collaboration between the two. She longs to know her subjects, study them intently, and capture them as they are.
Rachel also specializes in creative, digital marketing and branding. She has a history of working with various brands and artists in helping translate their identity into visual storytelling and powerful copy.
Rachel is currently a Digital Marketing Specialist and Independent Photography Contractor at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Denver. Check out some of her recent work for the museum here.
